Great Article on the Power of Networking,
Although an advocate of online marketing I still feel it is beneficial to continue with traditional marketing methods, getting in front of people and promoting your business face-to-face. Where an email or a newsletter is a great way to highlight the benefits of your firm nothing goes down better than telling fellow businesspeople about what you do on a one-to-one basis, giving them information straight from the horses’ mouth.
As the business owner, you must put yourself forward as that horse, galloping towards success and not being taken for a ride!
This is why I like to network, getting amongst the crowd and giving neighbouring businesses a true representation of myself and the services my companies offer. As you will know, competitors can be jealous, doing all they can to bring rivals down. This is another reason why networking is crucial, allowing you to provide a clear picture of your company, your missions and your values.
There are so many advantages to networking that I cannot express them through one simple blog post, but after reading this I hope that you at least consider joining the world of networking. As the saying goes ‘It is not what you know, it is who you know’ with networking being the only real way to become a well-connected professional.
If you have not yet reaped the benefits of business networking then there is no need to panic, with corporate mingling only getting bigger and better in the coming years. In Britain we boast a healthy attitude towards business interaction, with a large number of companies specialising in introducing people that may never have gotten the chance to talk without them.
Professional networkers such as Introbiz in Cardiff are experts at forming affiliate marketing strategies, putting businesses in the right circles to triumph.
Networking is Give and Take
I have spent a lot of time discussing what you can get from networking but ‘what exactly do you have to do?’ I hear you ask.
Well, as we all know, there is no such thing as a free lunch and if something seems too good to be true then it usually is. However, networking really is very simple, with you getting out exactly what you put in. With massive opportunities for business referrals you must show that you are passionate about other businesses within the network, spreading the word about the cleaning company or insurance firm you have just heard about.
Where business owners tend to look at their customers in great detail the powers of the business down the road is undermined. Not only are businesses well-connected but other professionals can offer fresh eyes and ears, finding a flaw in your vision that you may have overlooked, being far too close to the project.
As you can see, networking can open so many doors for your business, doors to destinations that you did not even know existed.
It is for this reason that I wish to end this blog post with a quote from national bestselling author, Bob Burg, an individual that has mastered the art of networking, with an aim to cultivate a network of endless referrals.
‘Go looking for conflict, and you’ll find it. Go looking for people to take advantage of you, and they generally will. See the world as a dog-eat-dog place, and you’ll always find a bigger dog looking at you as if you’re his next meal. Go looking for the best in people, and you’ll be amazed at how much talent, ingenuity, empathy, and good will you’ll find. Ultimately, the world treats you more or less the way you expect to be treated.’
