Introbiz and Hugo Boss teamed up for an exclusive event at the store in the centre of Cardiff on Thursday, 2nd March.
Former Welsh rugby stars turned pundits, Jonathan Davies OBE and Martyn Williams MBE partook in a Q&A session hosted by Tom Shanklin. This year’s Six Nations tournament and more specifically Wales’ display has been a great source of discussion in the media and this was a hot topic during the Q&A. The event welcomed countless local businesses, ranging from business owners and SMEs and was a great opportunity to connect with each other and to find out more about rugby in Wales.
Jonathan Davies is a former rugby union and rugby league player who represented Wales. A goal-kicking backline player, he’s played in England, Australia and of course, in Wales. Today, he is a well-known television rugby commentator and media personality. Martyn Williams is a former Wales and British and Irish lions rugby player. He played as a flanker and he is Wales’ most capped back row forward.
When asked if he ever missed playing rugby for Wales, Jonathan said; “I don’t miss playing now. Well, the only thing I miss is when you run out, the atmosphere, the noise and the feel – it’s unbelievable.
“But nothing replaces your first cap for Wales.”
Martyn reiterated this by explaining that there’s so much pressure when representing Wales.
“You just want to win”, he said.
Speaking about this year’s RBS Six Nations tournament, Jonathan explained that the team are playing predictably; “We need a couple of players to break things up – that’s been our problem I think. It’ll be a close game against Ireland, but if we don’t score tries, we won’t win. We need to build our confidence.”
Martyn said; “You can never question Wales’ intensity of play. Their game plan is built on fitness and they will give every bit of energy – but we can’t think on our feet. A lot of the training is more physical based than mental based and the game has moved on.”
The event saw Mercedes showcasing a range of their new vehicles, a range of cocktails provided by Dirty Martini, a buffet supplied by Spiros Caterers and Parkhouse Jewellers were on-hand, showcasing a range of Cartier watches and diamonds. It was also an opportunity for Hugo Boss to launch their new Spring/Summer collection for 2017.
Introbiz is Wales’ leading professional business network and as a result, the above are members within the network. The hosts of this event, Paul Smolinski, managing director said the following; “We are thrilled with the success of the event last Thursday. It was great to welcome Jonathan, Martyn and Tom to the event and we all certainly learnt a great deal from their extensive knowledge of Wales’ favourite sport. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support, each and every vendor, the speakers, the sponsor of the event, Cardiff Safe Deposit as well as all our guests.”
